Three of my recent redbubble uploads (without the watermark on redbubble).

[Image Description:There are three images. The top two images are of the same cane with banners around them that says “not a weakness.” One cane image has a pinkish purple circle around it and the other cane image has a blue circle. The bottom image is a drawing of a moss covered skull with a luna moth on the skull and mushrooms coming out one eye socket. The watermark nighttimenoodle is on all three photos. End Description. ]

Listen I am not going to name anyone specifically, but pattern makers need to talk to one (1) fat person before they can post their patterns online.

I am so sick of finding a cute pattern, getting all the supplies, checking my gage, and starting to knit, only to find that my sleeves are a foot longer than a normal human because the pattern maker just multiplied all their numbers by 10 when they sized it up. I can’t believe I have to say this but, just because my ass is fat does not mean my arms go down to my knees???

If you are a fat knitter, please check out Lydia Morrow on Ravelry!

Her design focus first and foremost on the fit and comfort of plus size people, most offering optional bust AND hip shaping. She’s a neuro divergent and disabled creator and really relies on the sales of her patterns, which very generously offer a sliding pay scale for people who can’t afford the full price. Her pattern sales have dipped these last few months which is a terrible shame because she is doing so much great work to make accessible patterns for all.

Disability Pride Month!

makingqueerhistory:

There is a large intersection between queerness and disability, including marriage inequality, medical abuse, and legal discrimination. The lines between queerness and disability have been practically nonexistent within living memory and both communities can learn from the other as well as uplift each others voices.

As a queer disabled person, I wanted to share some articles about queer/disabled history:

Vaslav Nijinsky

Emmeline Freda Du Faur

Gottfried von Bismarck

Victoria Arellano

Anna Freud

Lou Sullivan

Lesbia Harford

Frida Kahlo

Magnus Hirschfeld

Kristina King of Sweden

Edward De Lacy Evans

(To be clear, not all of these are about queer disabled people, but they all have connection to disability through medicalization, or disability)

It means a lot to me that when people send heart emojis, they have a specific color/style they use. And heart they choose to use seems to really reflect that persons personality and how they love.

Actually, do me a favor. Reblog this with the hearts you typically use.

Don’t Add Fanfiction To Your Goodreads Shelf

Hi folks, I know some of you like to use Goodreads to track all your reading and don’t want to distinguish between books and fanfiction.

I am, however, begging you not to do this. It is extremely jarring and disconcerting to be a fic author and find your works somewhere in the wild where you did not personally put them. Fics are not books, are not published in the same way as books, and exist in a precarious legal space.

Please don’t attempt to elide the separation that exists between fandom and the world of official publishing.

Well this is much nicer than how I said it 🤣

update to add:

if you are a fic author and you find your fic on Goodreads, you can get it removed!

Here’s how:

  1. First, you gotta go to Goodreads support Contact Us page. Fill out the form as follows:
  2. What can we help you with? - Book records: adding or editing
  3. What device were you using? - this answer doesn’t matter
  4. Are you reaching out as a publisher, author, neither, or both? - Author
  5. What does your inquiry relate to? fanfiction recorded as book
  6. In the main body of the question, include the link(s) to the Goodreads record(s) for your fic(s)
  7. Hit submit!
  8. Someone should contact you pretty fast; I got a reply within a couple hours, even though it was a Sunday afternoon. They wanted me to confirm that it was a fanfic and asked me to provide proof of authorship which was kinda weird to answer but I was like “uhhh my tumblr is the same handle as my ao3 does that count?” and that seemed to go over just fine.
  9. Once they say they’ve deleted the records it should no longer be searchable although for whatever reason the direct links apparently still work. That’s Amazon for ya I guess.

I hope this helps some of my fellow fic authors!

hey guys please reblog this version

I’ve seen multiple people reblogging the original post with tags saying how they have struggled to get their fics taken down off Goodreads & I want folks to know that it IS possible

Seein’ too many Twitter refugees asking if they’ll get in trouble for saying “kill yourself” to people and while no, you’re not gonna get nuked from orbit, that is maybe something you just shouldn’t be doing in general perhaps?? Maybe telling people to kill themselves is bad actually?? Some of y'all are wild, why is the first thing you can think to ask on a new platform if you can send one of the worst kinds of harassment to people?? Grow tf up and learn how to use the block button. It’ll do wonders for your mood, trust me.

“It’s a joke!”
